These are some of the projects we want to do in the near future at the Wingnut. If you want to help out with any of them, please let us know.

Chimney fix – We need a new liner for the chimney so we can use it next winter for heat
Wood stove- We need this to go with the Chimney!
Insulation- for the attic and in the crawl space
New back porch- We want to rebuild the back porch- see other posts. This is gonna take a lot of lumber!
Permit for porch roof- We want to tear dow the old porch and rebuild it one floor higher
Solar panels- These could really help in terms of long term stability and sustainability and we have really good sunlight to place solar panels in
Finish attic floor- Once we insulate the rest of the attic we want to put down floor boards

Refinish the Attic- Run electrical up there so there are outlets and light fixtures for bedrooms up there
Fence front yard- We think we are going to build a fence for the front out of Bamboo because we can’t afford wrought iron, even though that would look SO cool
Garden in the front- We are gonna grow veggies in the front yard. We need soil, plants, seeds, mulch, lumber etc.
Refloor front porch- Purely aesthetic, the salt treated lumber look doesn’t match the house. Would much rather have skinnier painted tongue and groove boards making a solid floor. Maybe. Hmm.
New porch railings- the prefab railings that came with the house are really unstable and shitty. We want to build new railings that are solid panels, that way eventually we can..
Screen in front porch- Yea! It would be great to eventually screen in the front porch. dang skeeters
Mosaic- We want to make a tile mosaic up our front walk. So if you have any colorful tiles to donate, even little broken pieces that would be awesome
Gazebo- We might want to build a gazebo in the back
Shack- It is always good to have a backyard shack to hang out in
Shed- We probably want a shed to keep yard tools in
Bike shack- It would be good to have a little corrugated tin roofed shed to store bikes and mopeds in, out of the weather

hmmm I think I saw some lumber on Clay Street. I could go check it out tomorrow

re-store is really cheap and that money goes to building habitat for humanity houses.

Yea we are lucky enough to live about a mile from the Habitat re-store, and we have gotten things from a copy machine to caulk there. Definitely a great resource.

I would also suggest adding another compost bin so that when your current one is full or near full you can stop adding material to it (maybe just some grass clippings on top to help cook it) and let it age while you fill up the second one. Back home we just latch four pallets together, which is free.
